Bad Company

The importance of Paul’s quote from the ancient comedic poet Menander in the midst of his defense of the resurrection of the dead cannot be understated. There were those that the Corinthian church had allowed into their ranks that had influenced their belief in the resurrection. Paul reprimands them for listening to the message of hopelessness and points them back to the power of Christ’s resurrection.
